Ethereum Foundation researcher Carl Beekhuizen has announced that a 99.95% reduction on energy consumption will be achieved in the new proof of stake (PoS). He said it’d need 2.64 megawatts to match the energy consumption of a village since there are 87,897 validators, excluding exchanges and staking services. From statistical data, He expects the new version of Ethereum will be 200 times more energy-efficient.
